Light pollution is the bane of astrophotographers, especially those in cities. Narrowband filters come to the rescue by isolating just a few nanometers of light emitted by cosmic gases, effectively blocking out most artificial lighting.
This means you can shoot stunning deep-sky images of emission nebulae even under bright urban skies or moonlight. Filters like H-alpha, OIII, and SII let you "see" through the haze, revealing details broadband filters simply can't.
So if you’re stuck in the city but want to capture the cosmos, narrowband filters are your best friend.
