Calibration frames are specialized images taken to correct various imperfections in your astrophotography data:
- Dark Frames: Capture sensor noise by taking exposures with the lens cap on.
- Flat Frames: Correct vignetting and dust spots by photographing a uniformly lit surface.
- Bias Frames: Measure the camera’s readout noise with the shortest possible exposure.
Applying these frames during processing removes unwanted artifacts and creates a cleaner, more accurate base image for stacking and enhancement.
