Atmospheric turbulence causes stars to twinkle and can blur images, especially in the blue channel. Differential refraction bends light differently across colors, making blue light appear slightly shifted compared to red and green.
To reduce these effects, use alignment tools during stacking to correct channel shifts and apply sharpening carefully. Imaging when the target is higher in the sky also lessens atmospheric distortion.
